About the Group:
Becoming Mom is a therapeutic support group for expecting mothers with babies due February 15 – March 15, 2026. The mission is to provide a safe, welcoming space where you can connect with other moms, share experiences, and build both emotional resilience and community.
Through biweekly sessions you will:
- Receive guidance from a maternal mental health therapist with lived experience
- Learn about PMADs and your personal risk factors
- Prepare for birth and develop a postpartum support plan
- Explore identity transitions and the changes that come with becoming a mother
- Acquire practical strategies to manage stress, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts
- Connect with peers and build a supportive network
- Access an optional online group to continue support and community building between sessions
Group Details:
- Format: 16-week program (biweekly 90-minute sessions)
- Cohort Size: 6–10 participants
- Facilitator: Kayla James, Canadian Certified Counsellor
- Optional Facebook Messenger Group: Connect with your cohort between sessions, share resources, and build community. Moderated by facilitator for the duration of the group.
- Investment: $40Â per session; receipts provided for insurance coverage when requested
